with no commits to 3.3 or 4 in the past 6 months to year, id say unreal is dead in the water. I hope so. Lord lets hope that goddaweful inspircd doesnt take its place. Its twice as aweful.

I guess most of the IRCd's that you like are: outdated?

Lack of updates can be a good thing. There is a rock solid IRCd (which will remain anonymous) out there that has held 40k real users on a production network on 1 single ircd and sustained that number without any major issues. It hasn't been updated in a couple years now .. does that mean it's outdated?? pfft, hardly .. that just means the authors are happy and it is doing what it is meant to do.

Just because an ircd doesn't update every few months doesn't automaticlly make the ircd shit. Unless you are so stupid to know no better.

Updates are just bug fixes and new features, so what if an ircd doesn't add new features every month? .. and it's also an indication of lack of known bugs.

Hmm, I gotta agree with that.

I figure a need to emphasize a bit upon his original quote since I realized at the moment I was bland in it.

The 3.3 development repository still accessable through SVN is the original one, based off the 3.2 Re-code into something.

The current stage of 3.3 has it basically on my desktop and in my own private repository, in which it will sit until I get at least an alpha going, in which we'll either move it into Unreal's or I'll at least keep it in mine for awhile, whichever. Thats the main reason there's not going to be any 'sight' of actual commits to 3.3 for awhile to come, sorry : P

Out of curiosity, do you intend to bring unreal's client protocol in line with the new standardization effort? We would certainly love to have Unreal on board, most of the other players (inspircd, charybdis, ratbox, etc) are on board already.

Anyway, I guess I'll ask you on IRC next time I see you about your position towards the standardization efforts...
