I know you mentioned only wanting to link to a network that already has a decent sized userbase, but please consider reading this reply in full. If you have no luck, you're welcome to join us at irc.sleisysoft.net , currently only with anywhere from 3 to 5 users, as I haven't really done a whole lot of promotion yet, and I don't plan on doing so for about a week or so, then it should start seeing some growth I hope..
My network runs ircu2.10.12.10 ircd with a couple of patches, with srvx 1.3.1 services (ChanServ, AuthServ, OpServ, MemoServ, and Global, with a HostServ eggdrop bot written by me for titles/fakehosts).. The website is currently under development, and should be done here shortly. It has taken a long time, as I'm still working out the bugs for a custom php bot, that will allow users to register with AuthServ through the website, register a channel on the website, and have full control of their AuthServ account and channel settings from the website as well. Also, the website will feature a channel owner service, that will allow them to have a http://channelname.sleisysoft.net webpage built into the network website, allowing channel owners to provide information about their channel, such as a staff (channel op) listing, news page, and other things that they wish to add.
So, if you don't have any luck, you are more than welcome to join me, and help me out. If you decide you are interested, don't hesitate to contact me and we can discuss and/or negotiate details and accomodations. I am very easy to get along with, and you will find that I am pretty laid back with a lot of things. Also, one of my primary policies is, if it isn't harming anyone else, the network itself, or isn't illegal, we simply don't intervene, and leave it alone, as its not hurting anything.
I have plans for monthly classes, for users to learn about the ircd and services that we currently utilize, and there are plans for a monthly community meeting, where users will be informed of any changes and updates that are on the way, and will primarily be used to collect feedback (questions/concerns, suggestions, etc) from the users. My theory is, it is the users that own and run the network, and therefore, their opinions will be what counts, and directs the network as a whole.
So, if you would, please take a moment to consider my invitation to you. It will be available for as long as you need, and rest assured, my network is not going anywhere, and hopefully will be around for as long as there's an IRC community. The few users I do have are very friendly, and to be honest, I would rather have a slow growth, to ensure that the network only attracts very friendly users such as the ones that are already here, rather than a rapid growth, attracting several rude members. One very friendly and loyal user (they know who they are, and it is very much appreciated) on my network is much better than having twenty to thirty very mean and rude members. |

Good luck in your search, eckside.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but it might help to say what you're currently using for ircd/services. |

No Unreal huh.. strange request, since many, many networks seem to be using Unreal. I don't personally like it myself, but eh, what am I to say.
Depending on what your networks intention was, I don't know if it'd fit in with ShadowHime. We're running pretty stable now, bit of a small userbase at the moment... Our network page is of course, here.
We use Inspire IRCd 1.1 for the main server, and Anope services on our server. But, I don't know what your network is to really make a judgment to see whether or not your users would prefer our network. |

Well, I would ask you to link to mine but I think we tried that twice with you and you never stuck around for long. Not that I have a huge user base, but it is growing. |

Unreal IRCd is only as bad as the staff that operates behind it.
There are perfectly fine networks out there that run Unreal. If you have an intelligent and professional staff, Unreal never becomes an issue.
This isn't meant to flame the author of this post. It is obviously your personal decision to not want to associate your network with Unreal, but your denouncement of Unreal is hardly backed up by any logical explanation.
Note to admins: Don't try to fool yourselves. Someone who knows how to configure something more complicated than Unreal doesn't make them anymore knowledgeable or intelligent than any other admin who runs Unreal IRCd. |
