September 11 - 7 Years Later
I'm usually one for these type of things, but I feel this is something I'd like to write about. Even seven years later, I can watch the videos and news reports from that tragic day, and it still envokes the same feelings it did when I actually sat on my couch, watching it as it unfolded. I remember it like yesterday, as my roomate woke me up and told me we'd been attacked and I might get recalled to the military. I dragged my sleepy self to the living room and sat on the couch, and from there, I could only sit there, glued to that spot watching the tv, not moving or talking, watching that horror unfold. I also still feel the wrath that arises from watching it, knowing that those people were innocent individuals going about their daily lives, whom were murdered for reasons I still am not sure we fully understand, or ever will.
The patriotism and show of unity by the United States citizens was something which made me proud. I only wish that it hadn't taken such a horrible and tragic event for that kind of unity and show of pride in our country to happen. I was also saddened that, although it did last for awhile, this display eventually declined until everyone was back to their normal ways.
I wonder how many people simply go about their daily lives not giving much though to this day now, although I know many do stop and reflect on this day and all those lives that were lost in this horrific attack. I know that I will never be able to neither shake nor forget this horrific event, and hope that everyone will take a moment to honor the lives of the workers, fire & police department, and rescue workers whom lost their lives...
You will not be forgotten.. |

| I agree, and I haven't forgotten. I am still saddened to this day, and its a permanent pain that I don't think I will ever be able to get rid of. |

Indeed. It was a tragedy. And even though I am not american I'm saddened as well.
Coming from another free country like the United States. We believe in the same things.
I hope the world learns a lesson. And differences of ideology are not paid with human blood anymore |

8 years later now, not much had changed still, except a whole bunch of security upgrades that just makes it to where we can't even go to the bathroom withouth a camera being in there... Wait, cameras were already in there... Anyways.
The human race will always need a reminder in blood of our own mortality, it's that very reminder that brings people together, but not for a very long time. People cling to one another in fear, and when that fear resides, they begin to grow more distant as they feel they are invincible in some manner or form once again, until reminded. |

You and me both, William.
But I can't help but feel this economic turmoil that's currently gripping the world by the [noun] is going to cause desperation among those who aren't that well off. This may further lead to conflicts of a violent nature from those who are seeking a means to vent their frustration - and, in all honesty, I can't really blame them, just wish that they'd find a more creative outlet |

I'm afraid I must agree with Pingbad, in that things will most likely only continue to decline until the world finally does become mirred in another World War. As far as a more creative outlet, I've wondered about that myself, but then, perhaps some have tried that and it didn't accomplish much. There are also those countries that retain control over any media that might be used for such an outlet, allowing only what the government wants to be voiced and written. I really do hold sympathy and hope for those in such a position that perhaps one day that situation will be righted, but it appears some things will remain as they are for quite a long time.
To William, I pray and hope as well that we are never subject to what was such a horrible and tragic event not just for the US, but for humanity as a whole. For a world that has done alot of growing up in certain aspects in the past couple centuries, it sure seems like it still has alot of that teen/adolescent tendencies of self-absorption and self-survival, not worrying about what it means as a whole. |

I was still in middleschool when that happened. I still remember the rush of parents who came to grab their kids out of there.
I still feel bad for my friend who lost his older brother to the attacks, *sigh*.
My uncle was working the area that day, he came out fine just really covered in dust. We were worrying about him all day that day. |
